Update on Kitchen Cabinet Redo!

Remember this post? Well, I stained my island top. I am so glad I did it. Just a few pictures for you to see!  This is the top after 1 coat.  And after 2 coats. I did 4 coats in all and also did 4 coats of the Arm-R-Seal. It turned out a little shinier than I like, but I needed this surface to be very durable.  Just as a reminder, these are the exact products I used. If I had to do it over again, I might get the satin Arm-R-Seal, but I'm still very satisfied with the results. My cabinets were needing something done with them. They were starting to show wear and replacing them was not in our budget. I love white painted cabinets, but painting usually requires a great deal of sanding. I wasn't interested in doing that. I've done it before. This was a super cost effective way to update my cabinets. I highly recommend trying it if you are wanting to update yours!

The Sweet Moments

Hey y'all.  I've been in a little bit of a slump lately. Maybe you could tell by my lack of posts? Sorry about that.  We have been pretty busy, but who hasn't? But in all of our busy-ness, do we take time to stop and be in the moment? To notice the little things?  My oldest girl has been begging me to have a tea party for a little while now. I always put it off, saying "Mommy has a lot to do today" or "Not today, maybe tomorrow."  So, yesterday I got busy with my garden and we still didn't have the tea party, even though she had been begging me all morning.  This morning, she brought her dishes into my room and asked again. I felt that little niggle of guilt that I needed  to stop being busy and start enjoying. I'm starting to think it's a choice. I heard someone say recently that when your kids are getting on your nerves, instead of wanting them to change, why not see what you can change about yourself. Am I being too bu

My Garden: Year 2

Last May, I wrote a post on my first attempt at growing a garden. It turned out really well! But, I learned a few things that I'm hoping to grow from this year. Things that I learned. I learned a lot mostly about placement. I planted 4 rows of green beans right back to back and it was hard to pick in the size that I have. So I'm planting single rows right along the edge of the garden bed.  I also tried using a single pole for the tomato plant. It was super hard to manage. I will use a tomato cage this year.  AND Cucumbers take up a ton of room. So this year I will try them climbing up a trellis. I didn't plant too many things now, just some pretty pansies... and some herbs. Thyme, Lemongrass and Parsley. I honestly only planted the lemongrass because I heard it repels mosquitoes and it smells good. Maybe I'll plant a couple pots of these and place them around the seating area later. I also have some Creeping Lemon Thyme growing

Pizza Cupcakes

How about a fun recipe today?? But it's also delicious. And easy. And it's not even much of a recipe. Just make them however you want and you can hardly go wrong with these. Shall we get started? First I should say, I was in a hurry to make this for my very hungry children and didn't even think of taking step by step pictures. But they are very easy, so don't worry. Spray a 12 cup muffing pan with cooking spray. Make your favorite pizza dough, or use a store-bought dough and using small pieces of dough, line each cup on the bottom and sides. Bake at 375 for 6 minutes. Chop up some pepperoni into small pieces and stir them into some pizza sauce. (You could also add other favorite pizza toppings like sausage, pepper, onion, or mushroom. But I had very hungry kids, so I didn't add any of those.) Put a small amount of pizza sauce into each cup. Top with cheese and maybe another pepperoni and bake for another 15 minutes.
