1 Year Blog-iversary! Part 2

I'm back with Part 2 of the Top 10 posts from my first year of blogging! Hope you enjoyed revisiting some of my old posts.

#6

Another Bi-Weekly meal plan post was pretty popular, but this one was all about how to plan your meals to use up leftovers wisely and also included some freezer meals.

#7

This post was all about how I stained my kitchen island to match my cabinets.

#8

This post was one of the first ones that I did, but it was one of my top posts for a long time. Slow Cooker Green Beans, Potatoes and Ham is made with fresh green beans from my garden. I can't wait for my fresh green beans this year to make this again!

#9

#9 was a favorite of mine, all about how I bought two bar stools at a yard sale and made them into night stands for our bedroom!

And last but not least...one of my favorite posts
#10
This post told how I decorated and fed 13 people for my daughters 4th birthday for only $20. That might be a record I try to live up to for all my children's birthday parties (unless it's a big "important" age like 5, 10, 13, 16, 18. I know ALL of them are important, but these are the ages when we will do a little bit bigger parties.)

So, now it's your turn! Email me or leave a comment with things that you want to see or read about in the next year. What was your favorite post? And if you aren't subscribed for my emails, why not sign up today? You will get blog updates in your email every time I do a new post.

Thanks so much for reading my blog! I've enjoyed doing this for the past year. It's given me the creative outlet that I've needed, and I hope I've been able to share some helpful things with you all this year, too.

Have a happy and safe Memorial day weekend. For all the families that have loved ones that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My $100 Kitchen Cabinet Makeover!

I'm so excited to share today's post. It's something I've been working on for about 2 months, on and off. But it is finished and so today I'm sharing how we renovated our kitchen cabinets for about $100. When we bought our house in a little over a year ago, I fell in love with the kitchen just by the listings photos. UPDATE!!! Check out this  post to see how I also stained my island! It was HUGE and there was about a billion cabinets. The kitchen in our old house was a pretty good size also and I knew I would not be content with a smaller kitchen. So these pictures sold me. We bought the house and moved in and I lived with the kitchen for awhile but the cabinet color was really bugging me. I liked the counter tops well enough but they clashed with the cabinets. We did not have the money to replace all those cabinets so the next decision was to either paint or stain them. I stumbled upon General Finishes Gel Stain and thought the id

Thrifty Thursday-Marked Down Bread

Today I am sharing a tip that I use to stretch my meals out a little.  I buy marked down Italian bread loaves in the store bakeries.  I bought this loaf for $.72. It was only $1.00 to begin with but $0.28 is $0.28! Plus that's not the only savings you get with this. I love those boxes of frozen garlic toast that are about $3.00 for 6 slices!!! That's crazy. But sometimes, I just really want some bread with my meal. So I slice up the loaf and portion it out in 4 pieces per bag.  I then put all the individual bags in one big freezer bag and freeze. When it's time to eat, just pull out a bag. They thaw quickly. I spread softened butter on each side and sprinkle with garlic salt. I sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and sometimes I add Parmesan cheese. Bake at 375 for about 7 minutes or until they reach the desired crispness. With those other boxes coming in at about $0.50/slice, these are so much cheaper!!

Slow Cooker Spicy Chicken Legs

This is an updated post of a recipe I did a while back, but it desperately needed new pictures! It's still one of our favorites! T his is one of my go-to meals for Sunday mornings. I put it on in the morning before I go to church and it's done by lunch time! I will sometimes put potatoes and carrots in another slow cooker so that I have an entire meal waiting for me. It's even better if I use liners in my slow cooker and then I don't even have a mess! This is definitely a winner winner chicken dinner then! I will sometimes make a double or triple batch of the seasoning mix so that next time I make this meal, it's already prepared, and makes the dish that much easier! Slow Cooker Spicy Chicken Legs 6 chicken legs or 3 leg-thigh quarters 2 tsp salt 1 tsp paprika 1/4-1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (depends on how spicy you want it) 1/2 tsp onion powder 1/2 tsp dried parsley 1 tsp pepper 1/2 tsp garlic powder Mix together spices. Liberally rub onto the chick
