My nephew turned 3 today and he has been at our house for a couple of days. He already had a birthday party last week with the rest of the family, but we decided to make a cake today for fun! It was fun and it turned out adorable.
This would be a great cake for any summer party. And it was so easy to make!
We used Teddy Grahams for the bears, and Air head candy for the beach towels. The little red balls were made out of part of a Swedish Fish. We made the umbrellas with scrapbook paper and toothpicks.
The icing is Pillysbury Funfetti icing. It was already blue and included the fish sprinkles.
We used shredded coconut for the white caps on the waves.
The sand was crushed up graham crackers.
The only things that we purchased specifically for the cake was the icing and the Swedish Fish. Everything else was stuff I had on hand.
So for your next birthday party, why not try a home made cake? The kids loved watching me make it and it turned out so cute. It's a definite money saver!
