Chocolate Chip Pudding & Brownie Trifle

This recipe was something I thought I had thought up all by myself. Until I "googled" it. And found that it really is a thing. But it's so easy I wanted to share it anyway!

This is such an easy and pretty dessert for Valentine's Day! You could switch out the flavors to make a combination like brownies and peanut butter cookies.

1 Large tub of cool whip, cookies, brownies and pudding.

This is basically all you need! I originally got this idea because someone had blessed me with a lot of cookie and brownie mixes that they had bought but weren't going to use. I wanted a way to use them up quickly. I don't need all these carbs! We had a fellow church goer pass away and we took food to them. So I made this trifle in a plastic bowl rather than a trifle bowl.

Gather all your ingredients together. I made chocolate chip cookies, and dark chocolate brownies. The pudding is just 2 large boxes and 1 small box of original instant chocolate. I did not put the full amount of milk in so it would be thicker. I also folded in about 1 cup of the cool whip into the pudding before layering. I didn't get a picture of that.

Then start layering!

Just keep going until you get this!

This needs to sit overnight so the brownies and cookies can kind of mush into the pudding a little bit.

Since having dropped this off at the family's house, I have received SO many comments about it. They said the bowl was scraped clean and that people were raving about it! I found this almost humorous, because it is so easy!

If you try it, let me know what flavor combinations you try!

Hope you enjoy it and that you have a Happy Valentine's Day!

My $100 Kitchen Cabinet Makeover!

I'm so excited to share today's post. It's something I've been working on for about 2 months, on and off. But it is finished and so today I'm sharing how we renovated our kitchen cabinets for about $100. When we bought our house in a little over a year ago, I fell in love with the kitchen just by the listings photos. UPDATE!!! Check out this  post to see how I also stained my island! It was HUGE and there was about a billion cabinets. The kitchen in our old house was a pretty good size also and I knew I would not be content with a smaller kitchen. So these pictures sold me. We bought the house and moved in and I lived with the kitchen for awhile but the cabinet color was really bugging me. I liked the counter tops well enough but they clashed with the cabinets. We did not have the money to replace all those cabinets so the next decision was to either paint or stain them. I stumbled upon General Finishes Gel Stain and thought the id

Thrifty Thursday-Marked Down Bread

Today I am sharing a tip that I use to stretch my meals out a little.  I buy marked down Italian bread loaves in the store bakeries.  I bought this loaf for $.72. It was only $1.00 to begin with but $0.28 is $0.28! Plus that's not the only savings you get with this. I love those boxes of frozen garlic toast that are about $3.00 for 6 slices!!! That's crazy. But sometimes, I just really want some bread with my meal. So I slice up the loaf and portion it out in 4 pieces per bag.  I then put all the individual bags in one big freezer bag and freeze. When it's time to eat, just pull out a bag. They thaw quickly. I spread softened butter on each side and sprinkle with garlic salt. I sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and sometimes I add Parmesan cheese. Bake at 375 for about 7 minutes or until they reach the desired crispness. With those other boxes coming in at about $0.50/slice, these are so much cheaper!!

Slow Cooker Spicy Chicken Legs

This is an updated post of a recipe I did a while back, but it desperately needed new pictures! It's still one of our favorites! T his is one of my go-to meals for Sunday mornings. I put it on in the morning before I go to church and it's done by lunch time! I will sometimes put potatoes and carrots in another slow cooker so that I have an entire meal waiting for me. It's even better if I use liners in my slow cooker and then I don't even have a mess! This is definitely a winner winner chicken dinner then! I will sometimes make a double or triple batch of the seasoning mix so that next time I make this meal, it's already prepared, and makes the dish that much easier! Slow Cooker Spicy Chicken Legs 6 chicken legs or 3 leg-thigh quarters 2 tsp salt 1 tsp paprika 1/4-1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (depends on how spicy you want it) 1/2 tsp onion powder 1/2 tsp dried parsley 1 tsp pepper 1/2 tsp garlic powder Mix together spices. Liberally rub onto the chick
