Crescent Chicken Roll-Ups

Hey guys.

Are ready for some pure comfort food?

This is my mom's recipe and she made sure that I tell you all that. I loved it when she made these growing up. These are so good guys.

Here's what you need.

Chopped Onion (I used the dried kind because I was in a hurry), Salt, Pepper, Cream Cheese, Crescent dough, Pimientos, and Butter. The only things not pictured here is the chicken and that's because I was cooking it, and some water or chicken broth. Also, I only did a half recipe of this, otherwise you need more cream cheese and crescent roll dough.

So this is my chicken when it was cooked and chopped up.

In a bowl, mix together the chicken, chicken broth or water, cream cheese, salt, pepper, pimientos and onion.

Next, get your crescent dough ready. I do these a little different than my mom. I do single or half size by only using one crescent dough triangle per roll-up.

If you want to make larger roll-ups, put two triangles together like this. This way is good if these are the main dish. When I have made them recently, I have made them in addition to another main dish, or to take to a get-together or party.

Evenly divide out the filling to each triangle.

Here is how I roll them up. Pinch each corner of the wide end and pull up. Pinch dough together to seal. Then pull the narrow pointy end up other the already rolled-up part and just make sure it is all wrapped and pinched together. You don't want any of that yummy filling leaking out during baking!

Next melt some butter and just brush some over each roll-up.

Just follow the package directions for the cooking time.

I didn't get a picture of the filling on these since I was taking these to a friends house and had to run out the door. But you can almost imagine the creamy, hot, savory filling instead. So imagine it with me today and hurry and make them so you can taste and see for yourself! You won't regret it!

Here is the recipe.

Crescent Chicken Roll-Ups

2 cups cooked chicken (cubed)
2 tablespoons chicken broth
3 tablespoons melted butter
3 Ounces cream cheese, softened
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 Tablespoon chopped pimentos
Onion finely chopped
2 Packages original crescent roll

Mix together everything except the crescent rolls and butter.
Open crescent rolls and leave them in a square. (This is the Large Roll-up way, or leave them separate for the way I showed you for smaller roll-ups.)
Divide meat mixture between crescent rolls.
Brush with melted butter.
Bake at 375 degrees according to package directions until golden brown.

My $100 Kitchen Cabinet Makeover!

I'm so excited to share today's post. It's something I've been working on for about 2 months, on and off. But it is finished and so today I'm sharing how we renovated our kitchen cabinets for about $100. When we bought our house in a little over a year ago, I fell in love with the kitchen just by the listings photos. UPDATE!!! Check out this  post to see how I also stained my island! It was HUGE and there was about a billion cabinets. The kitchen in our old house was a pretty good size also and I knew I would not be content with a smaller kitchen. So these pictures sold me. We bought the house and moved in and I lived with the kitchen for awhile but the cabinet color was really bugging me. I liked the counter tops well enough but they clashed with the cabinets. We did not have the money to replace all those cabinets so the next decision was to either paint or stain them. I stumbled upon General Finishes Gel Stain and thought the id

My Frugal Cottage/Farmhouse Decor and how YOU can get it.

I have been on a decorating spree lately. I just finished my cabinets ( see them in this post here !) and so I've been changing things up a little bit. Plus spring is almost here and so I've been getting my flowers out for it! I also love to see how inexpensively I can decorate while still looking nice. I love the stuff from Pottery Barn, Magnolia Market, etc. but here on THIS blog, I'm on a budget! My favorite stores are thrift stores, specifically the Goodwill or Goodwill Outlet and stores like Ross, Homegoods and Michaels. And of course, the Dollar Tree! I try to make a lot of my stuff, or redo it so it's more my style. I've tried to include links to some of the stuff I've bought. None of these links are affiliate links, they are just there to help you out! I've already shared my "mantle"  already but I had to include it in this post. I made the star, my husband made the plaque, I covered the books and decorated the vase. Everythin

Thrifty Thursday-Marked Down Bread

Today I am sharing a tip that I use to stretch my meals out a little.  I buy marked down Italian bread loaves in the store bakeries.  I bought this loaf for $.72. It was only $1.00 to begin with but $0.28 is $0.28! Plus that's not the only savings you get with this. I love those boxes of frozen garlic toast that are about $3.00 for 6 slices!!! That's crazy. But sometimes, I just really want some bread with my meal. So I slice up the loaf and portion it out in 4 pieces per bag.  I then put all the individual bags in one big freezer bag and freeze. When it's time to eat, just pull out a bag. They thaw quickly. I spread softened butter on each side and sprinkle with garlic salt. I sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and sometimes I add Parmesan cheese. Bake at 375 for about 7 minutes or until they reach the desired crispness. With those other boxes coming in at about $0.50/slice, these are so much cheaper!!
