Goodwill Outlet Haul & Tips for Your Trip!

Hi there! I'm back!

Today I'm sharing my latest Goodwill Outlet haul. If you haven't heard of Goodwill Outlet stores, you need to see if there is one in your area and go check them out! I have a blast going and digging through the bins to see what I can find. At $1.29/pound for clothes and $0.59/pound for homegoods even the regular Goodwill Store seems expensive! Sometimes I can't seem to find much, but most times I come away with a cart full of goodies and I rarely spend over $20!

This time I bought 27 things.

I play piano, so I bought this 40's music songbook just to play for fun.

This book is so neat! It has classic Christmas carols and then decorating and food ideas for those carols. For instance, the song "White Christmas" has decorations mostly in white and white or light colored food items. This is great for different Christmas decorating ideas or parties!

This is an older book, but I love home decorating and just enjoy looking and reading.

A cheap, quick read.

This is a baby doll rocker bench, but as you can see the seat is ripped. I tore out the cane seating and plan to use it as a planter in the spring. Another post for another day!

These are little Play-Doh people that have different stamps and molds to use with Play-Doh. These come in different sets and I got a bag full of about 30 pieces!

Just a basket that I am using as a trash can in our guest room/play room.

This is a small round table cloth that looks like it has handmade stitching! I thought it was so unique and pretty.

This is a really bad picture and makes it look like the sweater is faded and worn, but I promise it's not!

You can see most of the clothes are for me or for my girls. I found a lot of pajamas for them this time. I don't buy pajamas that are worn or stained of course, and some I found feel like they could be almost new!

My total for everything was $13.77!

Just some tips for if you go...

*It is different than a regular Goodwill Store. Everything comes out in huge blue bins and you have to dig. I've taken gloves before and they have been filthy afterwards, so I would recommend those!

*Also, I try not to have to take my kids. You need to take your time to dig and kids get super bored or want every ratty old doll they see.

*If you are needing something, you probably won't find it. This is a store to go to when you just want to bargain shop.

*The fellow shoppers can be fierce. A lot of the other shoppers are re-sellers on places like Ebay and as soon as a new bin comes out, people are waiting around for it and if you even think you want something, grab it and then go through your stuff later. Some stores take a whole row of bins away and then tape off the area. They then bring out a whole new row of bins covered in sheets and you cannot touch the bins until the row is complete and they remove the sheets. Other stores just bring them out one at a time. Just be careful and be courteous!

*Most of all, Have FUN! This is where I go on my mommy nights or when I visit my mom. We love to go together.

Here is a link to see if there is one near you!

My $100 Kitchen Cabinet Makeover!

I'm so excited to share today's post. It's something I've been working on for about 2 months, on and off. But it is finished and so today I'm sharing how we renovated our kitchen cabinets for about $100. When we bought our house in a little over a year ago, I fell in love with the kitchen just by the listings photos. UPDATE!!! Check out this  post to see how I also stained my island! It was HUGE and there was about a billion cabinets. The kitchen in our old house was a pretty good size also and I knew I would not be content with a smaller kitchen. So these pictures sold me. We bought the house and moved in and I lived with the kitchen for awhile but the cabinet color was really bugging me. I liked the counter tops well enough but they clashed with the cabinets. We did not have the money to replace all those cabinets so the next decision was to either paint or stain them. I stumbled upon General Finishes Gel Stain and thought the id

My Frugal Cottage/Farmhouse Decor and how YOU can get it.

I have been on a decorating spree lately. I just finished my cabinets ( see them in this post here !) and so I've been changing things up a little bit. Plus spring is almost here and so I've been getting my flowers out for it! I also love to see how inexpensively I can decorate while still looking nice. I love the stuff from Pottery Barn, Magnolia Market, etc. but here on THIS blog, I'm on a budget! My favorite stores are thrift stores, specifically the Goodwill or Goodwill Outlet and stores like Ross, Homegoods and Michaels. And of course, the Dollar Tree! I try to make a lot of my stuff, or redo it so it's more my style. I've tried to include links to some of the stuff I've bought. None of these links are affiliate links, they are just there to help you out! I've already shared my "mantle"  already but I had to include it in this post. I made the star, my husband made the plaque, I covered the books and decorated the vase. Everythin

Thrifty Thursday-Marked Down Bread

Today I am sharing a tip that I use to stretch my meals out a little.  I buy marked down Italian bread loaves in the store bakeries.  I bought this loaf for $.72. It was only $1.00 to begin with but $0.28 is $0.28! Plus that's not the only savings you get with this. I love those boxes of frozen garlic toast that are about $3.00 for 6 slices!!! That's crazy. But sometimes, I just really want some bread with my meal. So I slice up the loaf and portion it out in 4 pieces per bag.  I then put all the individual bags in one big freezer bag and freeze. When it's time to eat, just pull out a bag. They thaw quickly. I spread softened butter on each side and sprinkle with garlic salt. I sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and sometimes I add Parmesan cheese. Bake at 375 for about 7 minutes or until they reach the desired crispness. With those other boxes coming in at about $0.50/slice, these are so much cheaper!!
